ROME: Via Garibaldi, Glicée, archival paper, 8" x 10", Edition of 5, Rome, Italy, 2025
When in Rome, this work began with graphite drawings on vellum. Modern Baroque motifs were then transferred onto photo silkscreens, next printed, as observed, with tinges of color. Springtime in Rome, Sicily and Venice, the dream was refined mid-summer in Hudson, then hand-printed in the East Village marking the end of summer.
Broad Daylight: Italy is a separate photographic print series documenting external embellishments in Rome, Sicily, and Venice. Broad Daylight appears to surface the scenes of impermanence and reciprocate with a salute to external cave paintings via internal expression. This work engages facets of composition, color, rhythm, cultural unknowns and historic angles. Best presented in person to experience the beautification of artisanship.
